Avy benefits from over 25 years of experience in finance and private banking – across Zurich, London, and Luxembourg. In 2010, he was named as one of the Dow Jones Financial News’ “Wealth management top 40 rising stars under 40”, as part of the third annual Rising Stars in European Wealth Management Survey.

Prior to Amber Lion Middle East and Amber Lion Partners, he was Managing Director and founder of the Emerging Central & Eastern Europe desks at both Bank J. Safra Sarasin (Zurich, 2015–2019) and Societe Generale Private Banking (Zurich, 2009–2015); at Societe Generale, he also built strategic bridges with the Corporate and Investment Banking arm of the Group.

Prior to this, he was Executive Director and desk head for Key Clients at UBS (Zurich), which he joined in 2003 as relationship manager in the core affluent clients department. Previously, he was team leader in the institutional asset management department of KBC In Luxembourg – with over EUR 1b in actively-managed AuM – and was co-manager of a European IT small-cap fund. He started his banking career at Republic National Bank of New York in London.

Avy graduated from the Strasbourg Institute of Political Studies in Economics and Finance; he also holds an MSc in the Political Economy of Transition from the London School of Economics (thesis on comparative models of privatization in Eastern Europe), and an MBA from the Chicago Booth Graduate School of Business. Avy is a CFA Charterholder since 2001.
